ASEAN Young Entrepreneurs Challenge 2017 (AYE Challenge 2017)

University of Malaya through its 4 representatives have championed First and Second Prize of ASEAN Young Entrepreneurs Challenge 2017 (AYE Challenge 2017) which was held from March 30 to April 8, 2017. The team 1 represented by Turiya Deva Sinnathamby and Foo Hung Ngiap (both are from Faculty of Engineering) has secured themselves medal, certificate and cash prize of RM10,000.00. The team 2 which placed at First Runner-up were represented by Tan Kim Hui from Faculty of Economics and Management and Malni A/P B. Balaraj from Cultural Center which carries them RM7,000.00 of cash prize, medal and certificates.

As a summary, the program AYE Challenge 2017 has attracted participation of more than 20 competing teams from 7 ASEAN countries. This program aims to foster an entrepreneurial culture among university students and to build a network between universities in ASEAN countries through competition-based entrepreneurship. The 10-day program consists of several modules in which students were given several tasks and being evaluated throughout the competition. There are several entrepreneurship modules that were used throughout the competition which are: Tourism Entrepreneurship Modules, Online Marketing, Marketing Pitching Camp and others where it was organized in a number of places, such as the National University of Malaysia (Organizer), Negeri Sembilan, Kelantan and Johor.
